IELTS
IELTS which is also known as International English Language Testing System (IELTS) compute the proficiency level in English of a non-native user who needs to use their English skills in an Academic or Professional environment. The exam is also for those who want Visa approval through various countries immigration.
The advantage of IELTS is that it’s not a limited seats exam. Anyone who qualifies the four parameters of English Language will be able to achieve good band score. You will have score as much possible out of 9 bands. The band varies from 1= bad user to 9= excellent user.
IELTS contain two kind of exams which is IELTS Academic and IELTS General exam. Both contain the four major aspects of English Language i.e. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Listening
This module is considers as the easiest module out of these four. The time duration of Listening module is around 30 minutes and you will be given the headphones to listen to specific conversation or recording. The ascent can be varied from any country. You will have to write the correct answers based on the given recording and it will be played only once. There will be around 40 question including Fill in the Blanks, Maps etc.
Reading
In this module, candidate will be given 3 different articles or paragraphs. Each of them contains the various type of questions total of 40. The time duration of this module is 1 hour. This test assesses the understanding of candidate’s ability of skimming, fast reading, author’s mindset and feeling and much more. The question can be True or False or Not given, Fill in the Blanks, Name the appropriate title etc.
Writing
The writing module assesses the candidate’s skills in sentence making, vocabulary, preposition, paraphrasing and other grammatical aspects in writing. The module offers 2 writing tasks. In First task, the test taker will be given a informative report which can be in any form such as Maps, Table, Pie charts, Anatomy or Life cycle, hybrid and much more and you should write atleast 150 words on it.
Second task involves writing atleast 250 words on a statement which will be given in task. The time duration of this test will be total of 1 hour.
Speaking
Speaking test evaluate the candidate’s pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency and other parameters in one-on-one conversation. The speaking module is divided into 3 parts where first section is related to introductory questions. After that, the cue card section begins where the candidate will be given a specific topic at which he or she will have to talk about for 1 to 3 minute. The timing may vary according to instructor.
The last section will contain questions related to cue card at which you talked on. The time duration of speaking test can be 11 to 15 minutes.
